The Bird and the Bees, a Christian Fiction Novel

Dear Church,

Our beautiful faith offers much inspiration. Since your warm welcome of my family and me into the Catholic Church, I’ve been blessed to publish a Christian fiction novel, The Bird and the Bees.

As Pope Paul VI said, “Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.” There’s something about the power of a story that reaches the depth of our soul and understanding. A good book is like visiting with an old friend, and the veil of fiction provides privacy to reflect how it may speak to our own experiences. Our Lord knew this about us, perhaps that is why He taught so frequently through parables.

The Bird and the Bees plunges deep into the notion that our decisions matter, that much of our lives are a result of the choices we make. While there are many circumstances we would never choose from flat tires to global pandemics, we determine how we will respond. As a Catholic writer, my hope it to illuminate how we are all offered a holy inheritance as children of God, but we must choose to accept Jesus as our Savior…and choose Him every day.

If you’re looking for an escape to Kentucky’s Appalachia or the shoreline of far northwest Pennsylvania, or if you enjoy getting lost in the flirtations of young lovers, gritty baseball players, or some organically sweet honey bees, I’d be honored if you checked out The Bird and the Bees. It’s available from in paperback and Kindle versions and from booksellers everywhere.

Owensboro is a special place with special people. I’m praying for you, your families, our community, and for everyone’s safety during these different days.

Blessed be God forever. Amen.
