I. Cathedral Fish Fry: plan to come to best Fish Fry in town this Friday, March 29, 5:00–7:00pm, in the Community Center. Plan to eat before or after the Stations of the Cross at 6:00pm. Special thanks to our coordinator, Laurie Hicks, who depends on volunteers to set up, serve, cleanup; call the office if you can lend a hand (leave your name and phone number).
II. Cathedral After School Care: spread the word that beginning in August, we will offer After School Care for Cathedral Pre-schoolers, Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM–5:30 PM; and extended care on Fridays from 7:30 AM-5:30 PM (if sufficient enrollment). The Fifth Sunday & Vincent de Paul: as you know, we have parish volunteers who meet face to face with the needy of the area every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00–12:00 in the parish office. This essential ministry (cf Matthew 25ff) is possible only because of your generous donations on the fifth Sunday of every month (many also give online through WeShare any time). Our next fifth Sunday is March 31!

V. Bless Your Children: One of the family traditions I admired while in India is the ancient custom of parents blessing their children before they go to bed. Actually, I observed families praying together before the evening meal (if you don’t pray, you don’t eat) which tended to be later than our traditional evening meal. After rather lengthy praying (the rosary, litany, Scripture reading, remembering living and deceased loved ones), every child, including adult children, would present themselves to both the mother and father, for a blessing; the parents simply place their hands on their the heads of their children with a simple words of God blessing them. “You may not be rich; you may be unable to bequeath any great possessions to your children; but one thing you can give them—the inheritance of your blessing. And it is better to be blessed than to be rich.”
