I. Community Support is key for our candidates for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and Children. From a basket at the doors of church, pick up a card with the name of a candidate for whom to pray.

II. Legal Protection of Unborn Children Day of Prayer: It was in 1972 that the Roe vs Wade Supreme Court Decision legalizing abortion became law. You are invited to the noon Mass with Bishop Medley on Thursday, January 22, to pray for this important cause. Today would also be a good day to fast for greater respect for vulnerable life.

III. Parish Days of Prayer: I invite you to participate in special prayer days on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (January 22, 23, and 24). Invite your Protestant friends and neighbors to an Ecumenical Prayer Service on Thursday at 7:00PM. Come to Church on Friday to share in community prayer and outreach at 7:00PM. Finally, Bishop Medley will preside and preach at the 5:00PM Saturday evening Mass, followed by a potluck.

IV. Christmas Gratitude! The cards, notes, food and sweets, gifts and invitations are much appreciated! On behalf of the St. Stephen Cathedral staff, Fr. Suneesh and myself, I thank you for your many kindnesses over the Christmas season.

In Joy and Hope,
Fr. Jerry
