I. St. Meinrad Sunday: Let’s give a big Stephen Cathedral welcome to Fr. Joseph Cox, 0SB, who is presiding and preaching this weekend. Our Diocese has benefitted beyond measure from the prayer, work, and service of the Benedictine monks at St. Meinrad Archabbey. Their Seminary and School of Theology has formed and educated numerous lay ministers and priests for ministry to the Church in the Owensboro Diocese and beyond. Learn more about St. Meinrad by visiting www.stmeinrad.org and www.saintmeinrad.edu. You will receive a brochure and letter from Archabbot Justin describing the work of St. Meinrad. Respond as generously as you can.

II. Communal Anointing: Exactly one week before Thanksgiving Day, at the noon Mass on Thursday, November 20, we will offer the Sacrament of Anointing. Thanks be to God that Jesus has extended his healing ministry through the Church in the Sacrament of Healing. You may wish to invite and offer transportation. Afterward, a light lunch, graciously coordinated by Lisa Taylor, will be served in the Community Center.

III. To Hear or Not To Hear: Those who are hearing-impaired may wish to try our hearing aids that are attuned to our church sound system. Simply pick one up in the vesting sacristy from the drawer marked “hearing aids.” Why not!

IV. Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds for St. Stephen Cathedral: The St. Stephen Cathedral Selection Committee is now accepting applications for a part-time position for Buildings and Grounds Coordinator. This person is responsible for providing adequate maintenance of parish buildings, equipment, and grounds to ensure safety to all persons and to extend the life and the appearance of these items. The Coordinator of Buildings and Grounds overseas volunteers and contractors working on projects to assist this position. This Coordinator works closely with the pastoral staff. A detailed job description can be found on our parish website: www.ststephencathedral.org.

V. Mandeville Immersion Mission: Are you be interested in joining other parishioners from St. Stephen to travel to our sister Diocese of Mandeville, Jamaica, for a week of helping and learning? The date is October 3-6, 2015. If you think you are interested, contact me.

VI. The Windy City! Since we have a visiting priest from St. Meinrad this weekend, it frees me to leave a day early to participate in the installation of the new Archbishop of Chicago, my classmate Bishop Blase Cupich, on Tuesday. Several of us from the class of 1975 will gather in Chicago for a few days to celebrate and reminisce!

In Joy and Hope,

Fr. Jerry

The Catholic community of Saint Stephen Cathedral serves to welcome, evangelize and worship in the name of Jesus Christ.
