I. Month of May Honors Mary: Traditionally, May is a month of honoring Mary in a special way. As a child, we always had a “May Altar,” candles and flowers before the statue of Mary, mother of Jesus and mother of the Church. May is a great month to meditate on and pray the mysteries of the Rosary, a Scriptural devotion. Why not pray the Rosary as a family! You may also join the parishioners after the 7:00am Mass daily to pray the rosary. Mary, queen of peace, pray for us.

II. Mary Crowning this Sunday after the 9:00am Mass. Gather at our Mary grotto. Everyone is invited. Love as Mary loves. Mary, first disciple, pray for us.

III. Elder Health Care Fair: for all seniors and caretakers on Saturday, May 10, in the Fr. Vaughan Community Center after the 7:00am Mass until noon. Continental Breakfast and lunch provided. Short presentations about health care issues and end of life preparation, vital signs, lab testing, etc. This event is free, but please RSVP to Deacon Dirck Curry at 270-686-1749. What an opportunity!

IV. Our Parish Work Day to spruce up the grounds last Saturday was a great success. Lots was accomplished by the parishioners. Thank you for taking the time to beautify our St Stephen Cathedral campus: Bob and Shanna Ballard with son, Robert; Deacon Dirck Curry, Noelle Curry, Steve Duncan, Steve Gardner, Richard Grimsley, Doreen Harney, Todd Johnson, Smokey Millay, Denise Payne, Garry Pierce, Ken Rasp, Frank and Moggie Riney, Mark Sims, along with Patrick Clary. Thanks, also, to Mike and Joella Baker for providing pizza from Fetta!

V. Taize Prayer Service last Sunday night was simple, quiet, and inspiring. Thanks to the singers: Cindy Bornander, Darylin Bishop, Margie Ebelhar, Carmen Rivas Goetz, Joyce Gruenewald, Doreen Harney, Kathleen Johnson, Joann Moore, Janet Murphy, Sr. Suzanne Sims, Carrie Wieder; and instrumentalists: Cindy Bornander, Tracy Day, Taylor West, under the leadership of Michael Bogdan; and Scripture proclaimers: Donna Murphy and Marianna Robinson; for helping us to pray in the Taize style as we honored Saints John XXIII and John Paul II who were canonized at St. Peter Square, Sunday, April 27. The Taize mantra in candlelight with icons helps center one on God and His Son, Jesus. Thank you!

VI. Parish Pastoral Council Nominations: Thanks to those who took the time to nominate parishioners to our Council. There will be two discernment sessions to clarify time commitment and Council purpose. I ask your prayers to call upon the Holy Spirit for this process.

Easter Joy and Hope,

Fr. Jerry
