Rite of Sending: We are privileged to affirm at our Sunday morning Mass those candidates, Rick Hubbard, Jefferson Sorley, Carrie Warren, Taylor West, Bridgette Whittinghill, and our catechumen, Jackie Gentry, who have been part of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) for the past many months, learning more about our Catholic Church and what it means to live a “Catholic way of life.” We are wholeheartedly “sending” them to the Rite of Election Community to meet Bishop William Medley and the larger Church community at 6:00PM. (There will be two ceremonies for the Rite of Election at St. Stephen Cathedral on Sunday, March 9: 2:00 and 6:00PM.)

Ministers of Care: are parishioners who visit and take Holy Communion to our sick and shut in parishioners in their homes, hospital, and nursing homes. How important it is that these sick and incapacitated parishioners are cared for and “connected” to our Eucharistic assembly. It is truly the living Body of Christ ministering to the hurting Body of Christ! If you are interested in being part of this wonderful ministry, please come to our formation/workshop on Monday, March 10, at 6:00PM in church.

The Light is ON!  Along with most parishes in the Owensboro Diocese, a priest will be in St. Stephen Cathedral, available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, every Wednesday beginning March 12, from 6:30-8:00PM. It is our hope that those who have been away from the Church or away from this healing Sacrament will take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate God’s extravagant forgiveness.

Stations of the Cross: is a devotion that Catholics pray especially during the season of Lent, preparing for the Triduum (the special three days celebrating the Paschal Mystery). If you have never celebrated this devotion or if it’s been a while, I encourage you to do so on Fridays during Lent: after the noon Mass or 5:30PM. The evening Stations will be followed by a light meal.

In Joy and Hope,
Fr. Jerry

The Catholic community of Saint Stephen Cathedral serves to welcome, evangelize and worship in the name of Jesus Christ.
