I. Anointing: on Tuesday, February 11, Feast of our Lady of Lourdes, we will celebrate the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at the 12:05PM Mass. On this World Day of Prayer for the Sick, we remember all the sick, especially those in our parish. This Mass will be followed by a lite lunch, coordinated by Chona Curry and Deacon Dirck; bring a dish if you can. Assistance is always appreciated!

II. The Sick and Shut-in: Let’s not forget the importance of visiting, sending cards, phoning, those who are sick. It is our responsibility, along with our families, to lift them up and to pray for them. Please help us to update our Prayer List so that those who are currently sick and in need of prayers may get the prayer attention they deserve. Beginning February 1, we will rotate names off our Prayer List every two months. Please let us know if your name or a loved one’s name should be listed.

III. Owensboro Symphony at St. Stephen Cathedral? We are aware that a stipend of $6000 more or less would be needed to have the Symphony perform at our Cathedral. While I would wholeheartedly welcome the Symphony, we are strapped with budgeted funds; is there anyone or several who might make this happen? Before we say no, I wanted to check with the assembly!

IV. Deadly Sins/Lively Virtues: Because of the snow and/or the Super Bowl, we had at least 40 people missing last Sunday from our session as we discussed ANGER and it’s counter virtue of FORGIVENESS. We also watched the next DVD session on SLOTH (spiritual laziness) and it’s counter virtue of ZEAL. We will meet at 6:00PM Sunday, February 9; if you would like to view the video on the deadly sin of sloth, come at 5:30PM.
In Joy and Hope,
Fr. Jerry
