Pastor’s Perspective

I. Disciples Response Fund Appeal:  on September 8, you were asked to make a contribution to our annual appeal for the Diocese of  Owensboro. If you have misplaced or “circular filed” this letter, you may call or stop by the office for another. I ask every one in the parish to return the response card.  Even if you cannot make a financial donation at this time, everyone can mark the box that you are praying for the ministries of the Diocese. Be as generous as you can be!

II. Cedar Street House: Our St. Stephen Cathedral Finance Committee is in the processing of purchasing a house on Cedar Street for $16,000. Special thanks to Tom Neal, our Finance Committee Chair, for investing time and energy in securing this property. It is my understanding that the parish made a decision many years ago to purchase the houses across Cedar Street from our parking lot for possible future expansion.

III. Church Sound System:  Recently the company which installed the sound system in our church returned to make adjustments. It was discovered that two of our microphones were on the same channel, causing reverberation. Our individual microphones were adjusted to our particular voice quality and tone. The fuller our church is with people, the more effective our sound system. If you have trouble hearing in the back of church, I suggest you move closer to the front!

IV. Welcome Committee: It is everyone’s responsibility to welcome newcomers at Mass and to assure that new families in our parish feel “at home”. While no one is dispensed from this virtue of Christian hospitality, I want to invite others in the parish to join Mary Helen Nash in this privilege of welcoming new families into our St. Stephen Cathedral Parish family. If you are interested in learning more about our Welcome Committee, please notify Fr. Suneesh, Fr. Jerry or Mary Helen Nash.
