Pastor’s Perspective

Published on August 2nd, 2013

I. SACRAMENT of ANOINTING: At all Masses the weekend of August 17/18, we will offer parishioners the communal Anointing of the Sick. This is a powerful source of healing and strength which Jesus left for His Church. In a spirit of Christian hospitality, be aware of those who may need transportation. I ask you to be praying for all those who will present themselves to the Church for Anointing. Faith and medicine make good partners!

II. MEET The PRIESTS–Listening Session: On Friday, July 26, we held our first Listening Session.  Special thanks to the Currys for hosting the session.  Fr. Suneesh and I met several people we had not had the privilege of meeting. Our time together was good. It would be wonderful if everyone in the parish could participate. Please contact Janice Scherm (270-686-7879) or Margaret Windle (270-926-4601 or 270-302-5071 or [email protected])

III. LAUDATE: (literally “let us praise,”  from the Latin) is an app which may be helpful to you on your spiritual journey. This free app contains the daily Scripture readings, a reflection on the saint of the day, Liturgy of the Hours, the Order of the Mass, prayers of all kinds (including one for your pastor), an Examination of Conscience, Stations of the Cross, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the new American Bible, documents of Vatican II, and much more! Try it!

The Catholic community of Saint Stephen Cathedral serves to welcome, evangelize and worship in the name of Jesus Christ.
