Pastor’s Perspective

Published on August 3rd, 2012

Dear Parishioners,

We said good-bye to Fr. Titus last week.  It was good to have him here for the past month or so.  In his name and in the name of his diocese, Fr. Porter, I also want to thank you for your generous response to his appeal on the weekend of June 24th.  You contributed more than $10,000, a wonderful gift indeed!

As I mentioned in last week’s Perspective, we intend to do some work in the Undercroft, which we hope to have completed by November 18th.  Because of that, we probably will not be able to move there for Mass, as we had hoped to do.  In fact, I had planned that we would be having Mass in the Undercroft before now.  Oh well, we have made it this long in the Catholic Pastoral Center, and I am sure we can make it three more months.

Eucharistic Ministers, once again, I request that when you approach the altar to receive Holy Communion, please stand to the side of the altar where you will be distributing Communion.  This will eliminate some confusion, congestion, etc.  Thanks.

I hope all our students have had a great summer.  It is hard to believe that school begins this week.  We ask God’s blessings on all our teachers and administrators, as well as upon the students, as they begin a new academic year.  God bless all of you!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I will be meeting with Tribunal officials from Kentucky and Tennessee.  Owensboro is hosting this annual provincial meeting this year.  My work with our diocesan Tribunal is limited, but I do assist with that ministry as much as I am able.

Love, Fr. John
