Dear Parishioners ,
Many of you commented on how much you appreciated the opportunity to peak into the Church during the picnic on Saturday. The responses we received were overwhelmingly positive. Last Monday, I received word from Granda that everything in Spain is packed and ready to be shipped. Once all the documentation is completed, the materials will be loaded and on the way.
I want to draw your attention to the flyer in today’s bulletin. As noted there, September is National Disaster Preparedness Month. We have a Disaster Preparedness Committee in the parish which was established at the request of the Parish Council. The committee has been meeting for several months now and will soon present an Emergency Response Plan to the entire parish. The plan will suggest how we might protect ourselves in the case of an emergency while on parish property and also how we as a parish community might offer our services to the community in such an emergency. The importance of this was reinforced in my own mind when I was in Christchurch, New Zealand. I could still see the results of the 2010 earthquake they experienced. I was told that they lost 14 of the 19 Catholic Churches in town at that time. It will take them many years to recover from the devastation.
Thanks to all of you who have returned the picnic yard signs. Over the last several years we have lost more than 100 of these signs which cost about $5 each. If you still have one in your possession, please return it.
Love, Fr. John
