St. Stephen Cathedral Mass
Blessed Sacrament Chapel Mass
Published on May 16th, 2014
I. Parish Pastoral Council Discernment Session: Unless you have contacted Fr. Jerry, all nominees are asked to be present at our first discernment session for Servant Leadership on the Parish Pastoral Council this Sunday, May 18, at 6:00-7:30pm in the Fr. Vaughan Community Center.
II. Thanks for Entrusting Your Children to Our Care each week, as we attempt to support your most important role of bringing your children up in the faith we all profess. When you brought them for baptism, you made a solemn promise to “keep the light of Christ burning brightly” in their lives. We play only a minor supporting role in that task, while they are with us for a little more than an hour each Sunday morning. Today is the final day of Faith Formation for our students who attend classes each Sunday morning. The parish Formation Team, under the direction of Donna Murphy, with lots of parent and teen support, hopes the time your children spend at the Cathedral is one filled with treasured memories of models of God’s love for them!
IV. Reading the Bulletin is one way to keep up with what’s going on in St. Stephen Cathedral parish, and every pastor’s dream is that parishioners be diligent in reading the bulletin weekly! But, not during Mass. I have requested that our ushers hand out bulletins AFTER each Mass. If you can help with this “act of hospitality” after each Mass, offer your services to our ushers. It is always more personal to receive a bulletin from a friendly face than to pick it up from a table or rack. Be aware that that you can also receive our bulletin weekly online. Thank you!
V. Reserve the Date! We celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the first disciples on Sunday, June 8. Pentecost is the birthday of the Church, a celebration of the gifts of the Spirit upon us! There will be a potluck for the entire parish on June 8, at 6:00pm. Plan on it!
Easter Joy and Hope,
