St. Stephen Cathedral Mass
Blessed Sacrament Chapel Mass
Published on September 13th, 2013
I. “Open the Door of Faith”, this year’s theme for Catechetical Sunday in the U.S., blends into this Year of Faith. It impels us to reflect on the role that, by virtue of Baptism, each person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. This Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for us all to re-dedicate ourselves to the mission as a faith community. We are called to enter through the “narrow gate”. One of the best gifts parents hand on to their child is the gift of faith; what better way to equip your child for life in all its joys and struggles! Faith grows when it is lived as an experience of love received, when it is communicated as an experience of grace and joy. It makes us fruitful, because it expands our hearts in hope and enables us to bear life-giving witness. Special gratitude to all parents who intentionally and methodically pass on the gift of faith to your children. Your home is the “domestic church” where values of faith are best learned and experienced. Thanks, as well, to our generous catechists, and to Donna Murphy, our Faith Formation Director.
II. Parish Festival Community Builder! What a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a faith community to BE the living Presence of Christ to others! Hopefully, our Festival will draw people from the downtown Air Show. It’s wonderful to see so many St. Stephen Cathedral Fall Festival signs in yards and businesses! Thank you! Invite your neighbor! Nothing can take the place of a personal invitation! It will take all of us working together for one common goal. Be aware that there will be a 7:30PM Mass at the close of the Festival. (No regularly scheduled 5:00PM Mass on Festival Day.) The later Mass time will allow time to clean up and put things back in order. If for some reason you cannot help, please do pray for a successful, fruitful day!
IIa. Festival Notes: Please note that all the set-up for the Festival will be on Saturday morning, September 21 after the 7:00AM Mass and donuts. (No set-up on Friday evening.) Also, each family is asked to bring a minimum of two cakes/pies/brownies for the Cake Wheel and Dessert Booth. These can be brought to the office on Friday or Saturday morning.
III. Join Our St. Stephen Cathedral eNewsletter: Another way to communicate with us at St. Stephen is through the eNewsletter, which over 250 parishioners have already joined! This is an invaluable way to communicate with you, especially with last-minute announcements and reminders! If you are not receiving these emails and would like to join, simply send your email to ruthann.carrico@
pastoral.org with a request to be added to the parish eNewsletter.
