St. Stephen Cathedral Mass
Blessed Sacrament Chapel Mass
Published on March 8th, 2013
Thanks for your prayers during my retreat. As promised, you were remembered in my Mass and prayers each day.
As I write this, we do not know when the Conclave will begin to choose our new Holy Father. By the time you are reading it, I am confident that we will know the date – and perhaps even know whom the Holy Spirit has selected – though I will be very surprised if we have a new Pope this soon.
Youth 2000 is next week-end at Brescia University. I am happy that we have some youth from the parish participating again this year. The purpose of this week-end experience is to lead young people to a personal encounter with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, to live and proclaim the Gospel message with joy and enthusiasm, to become the evangelizers of the New Evangelization. Please remember all the participants in your prayers March 15-17.
Not infrequently, I notice young people (sometimes not so young people) coming into Mass chewing gum and even approaching Holy Communion while chewing. Not only is gum inappropriate during Mass, but you would have been amazed to know how much gum was stuck to the underside of our former pews. I don’t want that happening to our new cherry pews.
Our Penance Service is next Sunday afternoon, March 17, at 3:00pm.
Love, Fr. John
