St. Stephen Cathedral Mass
Blessed Sacrament Chapel Mass

I am hopeful that our shipment from Spain has arrived in the United States (it definitely has not arrived in Owensboro), but at the moment I am not certain. I am writing this a week before you are reading it, so I certainly hope that the materials are on their way from Norfolk to Owensboro by now. The tentative schedule we were given stated that they should be in Owensboro by the 30th. Many of you have told me how much you enjoy the pictures on the webpage (cf. “Restoration Gallery”). We continue to update that gallery whenever there is something to add.
Last week, the staff had a class on the light switches in church. I have a doctorate degree, and you might think I would know how to turn on lights, but our new system is not simple. The lights are in fourteen different zones, and we have the capacity to select the degree of light we want to have in each zone. I think you will appreciate the look.
The work in the Undercroft continues under the watchful eye of our parishioner, George “Rusty” Hagan. The colors selected for the walls will correspond to the colors in the church itself. All the carpet has been removed, and the entire floor will now be tile. We are also purchasing new equipment for the kitchen area, which will make the work there more efficient.
It will soon be time to select new members for our Parish Pastoral Council. In a few weeks, we select four new people to serve us in this way. For now, I ask your prayerful discernment about this; soon you will be asked to nominate people for this position. Specific details will be provided in upcoming bulletins.
Love, Fr. John
