Pastor’s Perspective

Published on November 4th, 2011

Dear Parishioners,

Last weekend, in addition to our usual Sunday Masses, we had two other wonderful events.  Fr. Brandon and I are very grateful for the ice-cream social last week in recognition of Priesthood Sunday.  Your comments, your cards, your gifts are so appreciated.  We both feel very blessed to be able to serve in your midst.  Thank you for your love and support.

Many goblins, animals and other creatures gathered in the parking lot on Sunday evening for the Trunk or Treat party.  It was a wonderful community building event and I am grateful to the Youth Group for organizing it and to all who participated in any way.

Advent is rapidly approaching and with it we will begin to use the new translation of the Roman Missal.  For the past few Tuesday evenings, Deacon Curry has been leading some sessions on the Mass as a way of preparing for the new texts.  On the next three Tuesday’s, Fr. Brandon and I will focus more specifically on the upcoming changes and the reasons for them, etc.  I invite you to join us for these sessions, so we can be ready to pray the new words when they are introduced at the end of the month.

I want to give you a head’s up regarding a Catholic Men’s Conference that will be held at Brescia University on February 11th.  You will be hearing much more about this in the coming months, but I encourage the men of the parish to mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Love, Fr. John
