St. Stephen Cathedral Mass
Blessed Sacrament Chapel Mass
Published on June 3rd, 2011
I am away this weekend participating in an African-American Catholic Evangelization conference in Jackson, Mississippi. A busload of people from throughout the diocese left here Thursday and will return Sunday night. I am very happy to accompany our parishioners from Blessed Sacrament, and others from Western Kentucky, to this Conference. I have been to several such regional and national conferences and have always found them so very uplifting and a real boost to my faith.
Now that all local elementary and high schools are out for the summer, I wish all of you a very blessed summer holiday. I want to offer a particular word of thanks to our parishioners who are administrators and teachers in our various schools. What a blessing you are to our youth! Enjoy your well-deserved break. I trust that you all saw the recent news in the Messenger-Inquirer about two of our parishioners – and not in the Records section! Joan Perry is retiring after teaching at Owensboro Catholic High for forty-two years. God bless you, Joan! Matthew Constant has been hired as an Assistant Superintendent for Owensboro Public Schools. Congratulations, Matthew!
I did not lie to you a couple of weeks ago when I told you that our new sound system was to be installed. Unfortunately, a major component of the system did not arrive from Germany until Wednesday (May 25th) so the installation was delayed. As of now, the plan is for the installation to begin next Monday and to be completed by the week-end. We’ll see what happens.
Love, Fr. John
